Privacy and trust

You should never feel VAIPA knows something just because it can.

These are the principles VAIPA is being built to, in plain words. VAIPA isn't available yet, so this page isn't a legal document. The formal privacy notice is a draft and will be reviewed by a solicitor before launch.

  1. 1. Nothing happens without your say

    VAIPA drafts, suggests and prepares. Sending a message, changing your calendar, booking or paying for something needs your confirmation, unless you've set a rule that trusts it with that exact kind of action. You can switch those rules off at any time.

    Knowing your preferences isn't permission to act. VAIPA might know the kind of hotel you like; that doesn't mean it can book one.

  2. 2. I'll tell you why I'm asking

    Every personal question comes with a one-line reason: what VAIPA will do differently for you if you answer. For more personal questions there's a “Why?” that explains more.

    Every question is optional. You can skip it, say you're not sure, or ask VAIPA to come back to it another time. Skipping a question never stops you using VAIPA.

  3. 3. Sensitive things are never guessed

    VAIPA won't turn ordinary behaviour into sensitive facts. It won't assume an allergy because you avoid a food, a dietary requirement because of where you eat, or your beliefs or health from your habits.

    Allergies and dietary requirements are only ever recorded because you said so, and only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw.

  4. 4. Speech stays on your device. Meetings are kept as text.

    On your Mac or PC, speech recognition for dictation and meetings runs on the computer itself.

    Meeting audio is turned into text and then discarded. It's never stored or uploaded. The text of your meetings is stored encrypted, and you can delete a meeting whenever you like.

    VAIPA only records calls after you've chosen to let it, and it always shows when it's recording.

  5. 5. Permissions come with a reason and a limit

    You'll never see a bare “Allow access”. VAIPA tells you what it will do with the permission and what it won't, before your device asks. For example:

    It lets me spot appointments, meetings and trips you may need help preparing for. I won't create, move or cancel anything unless you've given me permission to do that.

    Location from your device is off unless you turn it on, and you can pause it any time.

  6. 6. You can see, correct and remove what VAIPA knows

    Important things VAIPA knows show where they came from: something you told it, a meeting, or something it noticed. Things it has only noticed are shown as noticed, not as facts you told it, and you can confirm or reject them.

    You can change an answer, correct a preference, or remove it. When you disconnect an account or delete a source, what VAIPA learned only from that source goes with it.

  7. 7. The demo is fictional

    Explore Demo uses Alex, a made-up person. Nothing you do in the demo becomes part of your own profile.

  8. 8. This website doesn't track you

    No cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. If you choose a light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your own browser and nowhere else.
